Doug Male

Mr. Male has over 37 years of public school experience serving as a high school teacher and coach, athletic director, high school principal and superintendent. Doug retired in 2002 from the Miami Trace Local School District in Washington Court House, OH where he served as superintendent of this district for 13 years.
Doug was a Director at the Virtual Community School of Ohio (VCS Ohio) from 2003-2006 after coming out of retirement to begin working in the Charter School movement. He then served as the superintendent of Premier Academy of Ohio from 2006-09, where he was one of the founders of this Grade 7-12 Charter School. Located in Columbus, OH, Premier Academy of Ohio is a Community School specializing in Career Tech opportunities for approximately 275 students.
Male is a graduate of Marshall University with a B.A. degree in Physical Education and History and M.A. in Educational Administration from West Virginia University. Male retired from Premier Academy in 2009 to help form Ohio Charter Partners.
Steve Corcoran

Steve Corcoran has spent more than 25 years in the marketing communications arena, specializing in developing integrated business and consumer campaigns that establish brand, create national exposure, generate buzz and sell product. He specializes in start-up ventures that require quick-hitting publicity programs to generate awareness and stimulate sales. He has developed broad based strategic marketing campaigns for a wide variety of organizations, including:
Kalahari Waterpark Resort (Sandusky, Ohio)
Implemented a six-state launch campaign which introduced the Kalahari brand to millions of consumers through an integrated marketing campaign that was capped off with an award-winning public relations component that invited media to a massive “sleepover” to showcase the resort.
FLG Hospitality (Fort Rapids Waterpark Resort, Columbus)
Rolled out a statewide branding campaign that included an aggressive partnership with the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, and succeeded in partnering with Time Warner Cable to orchestrate a no-cost distribution of more than 250,000 overnight passes to the Columbus and surrounding markets.
Corcoran is the former president of Hybrid Marketing, the sixth largest marketing firm in Cleveland. Prior to that, he ran his own marketing communications firm that developed strategic programs for start-up, business-to-business organizations. Corcoran’s background also includes a seven-year stint in the financial world, as Marketing Director for two Northeast Ohio public accounting firms. He has also spent time at the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland developing material for the Fed’s consumer education and community relations department, and technical bulletins that supported internal process research.
Corcoran worked for five years as the Marketing Director for T.J. Stepien Advertising, a Cleveland agency owned by Ted Stepien, the controversial former owner of the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers. In this role, Corcoran coordinated the marketing efforts for several business ventures spearheaded by Stepien, including the Jacksonville Jets ABA basketball team (Jacksonville, FL), the Mrs. America Beauty Pageant, and several professional softball teams with roots in Ohio, Florida and North Carolina.

DivorceNetwork.com (January 2009 – Current)
Spearheaded development of an international social networking website for people impacted by divorce. Took the project from early conceptualization to finished site rich in content and interactivity. Managed pay-per-click and search engine optimization campaigns that currently reach 10,000 unique visitors and nearly 200,000 impressions per week. Actively implementing sales strategy to sell banner/leader board advertising and resource listing ads. Zimmerman serves as Chief Operating Officer of the organization.
Hybrid Marketing (2001—2008)
Spearheaded the international launch and grand opening for the world’s largest indoor waterpark resort; drove exponential sales growth for one of America’s top selling food brands; created and implemented an e-commerce strategy that catapulted a small mom and pop into a Wall Street darling. Zimmerman founded Hybrid Marketing in August, 2001, and built agency from sole practitioner to one of Cleveland’s top boutique alternative firms. Within two years, 18 employees in Cleveland’s historic Warehouse District were serving the mar/com challenges of a broad range of clients from entrepreneurial start-ups to Fortune 200 companies. Annual fee billings topped more than $4 million. Public relations; advertising; graphic design; web strategies and e-commerce; corporate identity and branding; direct mail; and research and strategic planning rounded out Hybrid’s integrated approach to solving client challenges. Hybrid Marketing was twice named a Weatherhead 100 winner, an annual recognition of the 100 fastest growing companies in Northern Ohio. In 2007, Hybrid Marketing was named one of America’s 500 fastest growing companies on the Inc. 500 by Inc.
Watt, Fleishman-Hillard (1998-2001)
Coordinated international communication efforts from Tokyo to Nashville for a major product recall for a Fortune 100; established statewide corporate identity for a telecommunications giant’s move into Ohio; managed all Beta testing and communications for new product technology introductions for world’s largest transporter. Zimmerman served as president and general manager of Fleishman-Hillard’s Cleveland office. Managed integration of large independent regional public relations firm into world’s largest PR firm – F-H’s first-ever acquisition. Had full responsibility for agency-wide profit & loss, forecasting; HR; client services; liaison with corporate headquarters; new business; and community visibility and marketing. Before leaving, managed staff of 36 and annual fee billings in excess of $5 million, including work for AT&T; FedEx and NCR Corporation.
Paul Werth Associates (1980-1983)
Joined Columbus powerhouse PR firm Paul Werth Associates directly out of Ohio State University as a junior account executive. In three years attained the title of senior account executive and worked on numerous political campaigns as well as day-to-day account support on major clients American Electric Power, Nationwide Insurance and Limited Brands, Inc.
The Ohio State University: Graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a special sequence in public relations. Reporter on The Lantern, a student newspaper with a daily circulation of 55,000. Public relations intern with the Ohio Chamber of Commerce. Officer, PRSSA.
Silver Anvil (1981, 1985): Attained the PR industry’s highest award twice in media relations for clients Steel Service Center Institute and Invacare Corporation. Have won numerous local and regional awards presented by the American Advertising Federation, Public Relations Society of America and International Association of Business Communicators.
Zachary Male

Zachary Male was recently employed as a consultant to the Premier Academy of Ohio Board of Directors, where one of his many assigned tasks included lobbying, marketing, and student recruiting and retention. In each of the three years he significantly increased the enrollment of the school. Mr. Male developed student recruitment and retention policies and procedures that demonstrated measurable success.
Zachary Male has been an associate with J.B. Hamlin and Company for 4 years. Mr. Male is a specialist in legislative relations, with expertise in education and insurance issues. Mr. Male implemented J.B. Hamlin & Company's legislative lobbying program. Mr. Male also served as the legislative aide to the chairman of the House Insurance Committee for more than 4 years under both Representative Geoffrey C. Smith and former Representative Dennis Stapleton. He served as campaign manager for Senator David Goodman and many additional Ohio House campaigns. He has consulted and acted as fundraiser on numerous state legislative and local political campaigns. Mr. Male is a 2002 graduate of the Ohio State University with a double major in both Political Science and History. He also served as an Ohio Presidential Advance Representative for the Bush Administration.
Leaving J.B. Hamlin and Company to work in the Charter School Community has given Zach the opportunity to advocate for charter schools from the district, school and classroom levels as well as from the Legislative and Executive levels of Government.
